All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Rideshare Insurance

What is Rideshare insurance and who needs it?

Did you know that if you do any type of ridesharing with your personal vehicle (such as Uber or Lyft) you are required to let your auto insurance company know?

If you don't inform your insurance company- they could cancel your policy!

Check out Risk Manger Mariah Arriola's words on the matter;

You may be thinking- Uber and Lyft have insurance for me, why would I need this coverage? Well, let's deep dive.

Say for example, you have just finished a ride with a passenger and are awaiting another ride to pop up on your app and during this time, you get into an accident. Since you do not have a passenger in the vehicle- the Rideshare company will not cover you. And your regular auto insurance does not cover business use- so there is a gap in coverage.

In order to avoid this gap you must let your insurance company know that you Rideshare and they will add the Rideshare endorsement- filling this coverage gap!

If you aren't sure you need to coverage, talk to your agent!

Or you can contact one of our agents, they'll be happy to help!
