“I’m just trying to help people fix their coverage.”

That’s how Maria Geary approaches her work. As a private client services specialist, she’s focused on education, not sales. When people complain that they’re unhappy with their insurance, she believes the problem stems from a bad match. They’ve outgrown their policy, for example, or they never understood it properly in the first place.

By explaining policies to clients in clear terms, Maria gives them the tools they need to make informed decisions. Often, they switch policies because it’s in their best interest, but she’s not about to pressure them. When clients deal with her, they can expect real honesty.
“I’m not going to make things look better than they are, and I’m not going to tear anything down to make my products or myself look better,” she says. Her only goal is to empower clients so they can decide what’s best for themselves.

Maria was born in South Africa, but her family moved to Nevada when she was ten. After high school, her family moved again, this time to Tucson, Arizona. She loves many things about the area, including the people, the warm weather and the fact that both her family and her husband’s family live here. Although she left for a while, she is happy to call Tucson her home again.

Maria earned a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and Business at Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota. She enjoys learning about people: their cultural differences, their unique needs and what makes them feel safe. This passion is applied in her daily work as she helps people manage risks and protects assets.
Since college, Maria has continued her education by completing the Executive Education program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She has also earned her Certified Insurance Service Representatives (CISR) designation.

Although she has experience working at different insurance agencies and even running her own, she enjoys working at RightSure. She originally worked for the company before moving out of state, and upon returning to Tucson, she knew she wanted to go back to RightSure.

“The opportunity to focus on client need rather than sales numbers drew me back,” she says. She also values the flexibility she has, which enables her to excel at her job while also taking care of other aspects of her life.

At RightSure, she focuses on standard personal insurance and private client and high net worth portfolio coverage, as well as her own life insurance, long-term care and annuity business.

Maria’s husband is a University of Arizona alumnus. They have a young son. When Maria is not working, she enjoys playing at the park or in the pool with her two “boys.”
